Judging from the album and performances, the group's musical reign had already begun back in 2000. Far from coasting on their laurels, this album finds the group singing and composing with fiery intensity.

arrived on time, the only note that I have is that the Black and Blue case had a crack on the front of the case.
Of all my BSb cds, if I had to pick just one, this would be it. I have 3 of this CD. I went to 2 concerts from this tour and love every song on this CD. It is that good. I love it. Trust me. Every BSB fan, this one is a must own.
I think thats what the Backstreet Boys wanted to do with Black & Blue. Not a bad song but not their best- 7/107) EVERYONE- Similar to Everybody, this song is a thank you to all their fans. Personally, I think this is their worst album ever made because it was made too fast and about half the album was too generic, meaning the songs sound similar to the rest of the singers of that time period, such as Britney Spears and NSYNC. In late 2000, the Backstreet Boys wanted to come out with an album that would beat NSYNC's 2.4 Million sale a week. Overall, I give this album a 3.8 out of 5. This sounds just like an NSYNC song; this is one song that should not be sung by them- 4/105) I PROMISE YOU- A lovely sounding song, but its not that creative in terms of moving ahead from Millennium- 7/106) THE ANSWER TO OUR LIFE- Sounds like this song is straight from Swedish producing.
Still, its creative and exciting- 9/104) SHINING STAR- What were the boys thinking.

Solid pop song- 8/108) MORE THAN THAT- This song is a solid pop ballad that the boys sing beautifully; one of my favorite songs on the album- 10/109) TIME- The boys wrote this song together and its pretty good, just a bit boring- 7/1010) NOT FOR ME- Good solid pop dance song, but not quite as good as Get Another Boyfriend- 8/1011) YES I WILL- An OK song with little creativity and its a bit boring- 6/1012) ITS TRUE- Similar to YES I WILL, but a little better because of its tune- 8/1013) HOW DID I FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU- Beautiful song with a beautiful piano throughout.
1) THE CALL- This is probably one of the best songs on the album.
It has a lot of creativity and its an excellent pop dance song- 10/102) SHAPE OF MY HEART- One of the best songs on the album, Shape of my Heart showcases what the boys are known for: power ballads- 10/103) GET ANOTHER BOYFRIEND- A solid song, but not as good as the previous two.
Still, there are signature ballads on this album that are the Backstreet Boys strong points; its a good thing two of them were used as singles and the one dance song they choose was a good choice (THE CALL).
4 1/2 stars. probably my favorite bsb songmore than that - great feel w/good lyrics to back it up. probably my second fave bsb song. maybe they've could've done it a little bit better. not to mention "drowning" is amazingthe others are great as well but not at the same level. obviously it has a different feel to it than the previous one (no surprise). millennium was a tough follow up and bsb did a great job w/this "black and blue" album. it's almost danceable.
so instead of sappy love songs, the guys did more R&B experimentation in this one (the call, shining star, more than that.).the best songs on the album in my opinion are:shape of my heart - this song gives me the goosebumps when i listen to it. enough said. LOL. but some of them are actually really fun to listen to such as "get another bf", "shining star", "everyone" (another song for the fans), and of course "yes i will" (cowritten by aj mclean).
